Get To Know ME!

I feel fortunate to be in my 22nd year of teaching!  I have been teaching at Carpenter School for 21 years!  I grew up in Park Ridge and went to St. Andrews and Maine South so it is great to be able to give back to the community where I was raised.  I received my Undergraduate Bachelor's Degree from the University of Kansas in Lawrence, Kansas...Rock Chalk Jayhawk!  My whole family are big Jayhawk fans! After graduating from KU, I went on to receive my Master's of Arts Degree in Teaching from National-Louis University.

I have had the privilege of teaching several different grade levels here at Carpenter School including Special Needs Kindergarten, Special Needs First Grade, Second Grade, Kindergarten, Special Education and finally the position I currently have been teaching, Literacy Intervention.  It is amazing to see how many of my former students I continue to see in the community and still come to visit!  This year, I feel so fortunate to go back to my Carpenter "roots" by Co-Teaching with Mrs. Tamara Fehrman.  Mrs. Fehrman and I shared the Literacy position for years so being able to Co-Teach reading again everyday is such a treat!

My husband, Tony, teaches fifth grade at Franklin School and we have two wonderful children, Grace and Jack.  Grace, is 16 and a Junior at Hersey High School and Jack is 12, and in 8th grade at Thomas Middle School and I can't forget our Goldendoodle, Bentley and our Cavadoodle, Beau.  We live in Arlington Heights and love being able to walk everywhere, go to Hersey football games and enjoy our downtown.

I am always available to answer questions about your child's Literacy and/or Special Education Instruction.  Please feel free to email me via our staff directory on the Carpenter Portal or leave me a voicemail on our district voicemail system.  I try and return emails and/or voicemail within 24 hours.

As with so many years here at Carpenter, I continue to look forward to the special partnership I have built with students and parents in this wonderful Carpenter Community!
